There is no better way to spend the student holiday than getting out of Boston and venturing to the beautiful town of Gloucester with fellow CSAILers, learning about each other's research work, strolling on the white sand at the Good Harbor Beach, enjoying the fun of DDR and video games, and concluding the day with an extravagant feast of lobster and steak. If it is what you are thinking, you are not alone. There are 130 like-minded people who have registerered for the workshop. We hope to see you all there!

There are several ways of getting to the venue:

By bus:

Show up at Vassar/Main 8am. Hot and yummy breakfast will be waiting for you. We will start loading the buses around 8:10 and leave by 8:20.

By car:

By train:

If you can not come with the buses, there is a commuter rail station only a short walk from the venue. Click here for information about the commuter rail station at Gloucester. You will need to take the Newburyport/Rockport line that departs from North Station. The regular fare is $9.25. The trip takes about 1hr. Once you arrive in Gloucester, to get from the station to the venue, go south and follow Washington Street toward the waterfront and make a turn onto Western Ave. (Rt. 127) . As soon as you get the first glimpse of the water, Tavern on the Habor is just around the corner.

School is starting up again. What better way to engage than the 3rd Annual CSAIL Student Workshop! Come out with us to Gloucester, MA on Monday, September 24th for a full day of fun, networking, and a chance to see some of the exciting research going on around the lab. Register now!

The CSAIL Student Workshop is unique in that it is "for the students, by the students." We organize it, host it, and attend it. This year's presentations are shaping up to be interesting, we'll be carrying on the tradition of the steak/lobster dinner, transportation will be provided, registration is free, the workshop is on a student holiday, and there will be several fun activities planned. Among the activities are contests for Dance, Dance, Revolution and retro video games (read: prizes and mad props!). Or, venture out into the shops and galleries in beautiful Gloucester.

The CSAIL Student Workshop (CSW) is a meeting of students, by the students, and for the students. It brings together student researchers in the disparate fields, offering a venue for interaction and the exchange of ideas. The workshop provides an opportunity for participants to gain an overview of ongoing research in CSAIL, to meet other researchers, and to initiate collaboration among different research groups. The scope of the meeting is broad, and the primary audience are students themselves. It is your chance to find out what your friends are doing, an opportunity to show off your own innovations, and a forum to get your work published. Plus, it's an opportunity to get out of Cambridge for the day on someone else's dime.

The conference is a one day meeting, with a single track of paper presentations and a poster session. Accepted papers will be published in the workshop proceedings. The workshop proceedings will be available only within the CSAIL community, so papers which discuss recently published or to-be-published work are acceptable. Proposals for new research directions and preliminary results are also encouraged, as long as they are described as such. A subset of these papers, i.e., those of the highest quality, will be selected for presentation at the workshop.
