AAAI Fellows Interviews. Recorded with a Canon GL2 MiniDV Camcorder with an Azden ECZ 990 microphone attached. Imported using iMovie and Final Cut Pro. I imported the full length of each tape. Edited in Final Cut Pro. I created the headers in Motion, using Geneva size 48 font. I gave the name of the interviewee, the date the interview was recorded, and the name of the interviewer in smaller font below. The headers played for 3-4 seconds on their own, and then the video image began beneath them. The video played for about a second with the headers overlaid, and then the headers disappeared. I essentially just imported the entire tape, beginning it when both people were seated and ending it when neither was on the screen. I then exported the video using the default setting (Quicktime Lossless). I used a Mac OS X frontend to several CLI encoding utilities (specifically x264, in my case) called FFmpegX. I set this to transcode the 720x480 .mov output to 368x268 H.264 MPEG-4 video using x264. The bitrate I set at 385 kbps. I also selected the following FFmpegX options: CABAC b-frames Constant bitrate Two-pass encoding Trellis Decode with Quicktime ME function Multi-hexagon The audio I transcoded from pcm_s16be at 1536 kbps to mp3 at 192 kbps. I saved each video under the surname of the interviewee in it. That's about it.
