The lab has recently received its annual renewal of the Democratic National Committee charge card. I have left it outside my office if anyone wants to borrow it. Some of you might not know about the benefits included with this card, so let me remind you.

First, the card has a lovely waving flag background, and in an impressive display of technology, a hologram of the White House in the corner. For every $1000 charge, you receive a "bonus point". By accumulating enough bonus points, you are eligible for the following prizes:

10 points - petting Socks the cat 20 points - petting any member of the DNC 50 points - a photo of Marilyn Manson, autographed by Tipper Gore 75 points - spending a day with Hillary's hair 200 points - selecting Chelsea's college

Of course, no amount of points will lead to a change in presidential policy. However, occasionally your balance will be waived and simply added to the national debt due to "your excellent credit record". So next time you buy another UltraSparc or P6, put it on the DNC card and get Chelsea to come to MIT.

At this week's
