You've been waiting for two years, and now it's back...

TUSCON III: Toward a science of Consciousness 1998

The most cross disciplinary, most mind expanding, most self exploring conference of them all. In their home page you can find such gems as the special pre-conference workshop entitled "Dream Interpretation: An Inner Journey", where David Roomy (A Jungian therapist and certified process worker) will teach you to "discover how your dream images speak to the purpose and the goals of your life." Or maybe you should attend the tutorial called "In the Zone: Sports as a Project of Transcendence"?

For the hard-core consciousness types out there, talks such as "If qualia evolved" by A. G. Cairns-Smith offer the hypothesis that "qualiagens are at root molecular". J. Sarfatti will report on "Post-quantum physics of consciousness" where a "Q-chip in which the Hameroff microtubule model is implemented in an artificial nano-engineered architecture." Other highlights include:

"An integrated approach to consciousness and behaviour involving the evolution of the universe, the Bohmian interpretation of quantum mechanics, and the Aristotelian view of matter and form"

"Quantum consciousness, unconscious mechanics" (2nd prize, Best Paper Title category)

"A conjecture: the square root of -1 as the psy-factor"

"Water's memory: A molecular perspective"

"The privatization of sensation"

Other highlights include the beautiful desert around Tuscon, crystals from around the world, and the world-famous "drinking of the bong water" ceremony as performed by the program committee.

We will examine our navel, our consciousness, and our deep feelings towards each other at this week's
