It has been sometime since we've checked in with the scouts who are the beneficiaries of our weekly Friday afternoon benefit, so I decided to contact them yesterday. It was harder than usual and took almost all day before the current head scout returned my page. I didn't want to be a pest, but was curious why it had taken so much longer than usual, so I asked. I'm a little teary-eyed right now I as write this, so please excuse any typing mistakes. Apparently the scouts were out doing what scouts do best, that is, they were scouting around. They had heard through their underground communication network (the Grape Nehi Vine) that I was embarking on the most difficult task a Boston area resident can face: the search for a new apartment. They knew that my roommate was moving out of town and that my lease was up July 1st and that I was looking for someplace comfortable to settle down. And so the scouts, apparently, spent the day combing the streets of Cambridge and Somerville looking for suitable options for me.

When I took this job as coordinator of the Girl Scout Benefit, I never expected to be repaid with such a kind gesture. Some have said that I did so only for the power, while others claim that I did so out of thirst and thirst alone. I can't defend against the former accusation, after all, how could I use this mailing to my benefit? The second accusation is rather silly, given the quantity of undrunk Polish Spring water in the 7ai kitchen. Let's just say that I have my reasons.

Join us today as we continue the benefit and discuss the area housing market at this week's...
