Final diary entry, March 24, 2000:

Spring break comes to a close.  Soon, those who vacated will return
with their tans to survey the works of those of us who remained
behind.  Indeed, they shall expect spectacular progress, unimaginable
feats of intellect, discoveries that rewrite the laws of physics
themselves, and a cloak of dust on the foosball table.

That'll be the sunstroke talking.

Indeed, those who return shall find us wandering in amongst a giant
herd of partially-shaved yaks.  Deadlines will have slid.  Resolutions
will have crumbled before reality.  Foosball shall have been played
aplenty.  Indeed, nothing shall be as was forseen by those who left
us.
