a gsb poem - with apologies to lewis carroll:

     The Beaver and the Wizard

"The time has come," the Beaver said,
     "To talk of many things:
Of loops -- and lets -- and closures --
Of parenthesis -- and strings --
And why car cdr is cadr
And whether my DSL will ping."

"But wait a bit," the cons cells cried,
     "Before we have our chat;
For some of us are in the stack,
And all of us are fat!"
     "No hurry!" said the Wizard.
They thanked him much for that.

"A mark and sweep," the Beaver said,
     "Is what we chiefly need:
     Compaction and zeros besides
     Are very good indeed --
Now if you're ready, cons cells dear,
     We can begin to clear."

"O cons cells," said the Wizard,
     "You've had a pleasant run!
     Shall we REPL again?"
But answer came there none --
And this was scarcely odd, because
     They'd GCed every one.
