'Twas the last GSL before Christmas, when all through the lab,
Not one grad student would stop hacking, not even to gab.
Their fingers were all glued to their computers with fear
Lest their long-promised theses should fail to appear.

The students were nestled all snug in their lairs
While visions of RA funding kept them fast in their chairs.
And Meyer in his office watching a student beg on his knees
Had just settled down to assign orals committees.

When out in the hallway there rose such a clatter
They all jumped from their desks to see what was the matter.
Away to the eighth floor playroom they flew like a flash
Tore open their doors and dropped their keyboards with a crash.

The enticing smells wafting up through the air
Made them tremble with anticipation and stare
When what to their wondering eyes should appear
But a home-cooked lunch that brought to every eye a tear.

Now, Stefani's! Now, Bertucci's! Get out of this room!
Away, pizza! Away, ice cream sandwiches! Cried St. GSL with a boom.
He swept into the building, bearing a sleigh-load of food,
Gave a scrumptious dessert to everyone who'd been good.

The graduate students cheered and fell to the repast,
Then St. GSL and his reindeer flew away up the elevator shaft.
But they heard him exclaim as they quaffed their libations,
"Happy Holidays to all and to everyone good vacations."
