Again, there will be no GSL this Friday from lack of volunteers. All those who eat at GSL are expected to cook once a year. Because of the underwhelming response to repeated requests for volunteer cooks, the following measures will be taken. 1) On Tuesday, October 20, at 5 pm all those on the GSL mailing list who have not committed to cook for this year will be randomly assigned in threes to the remaining open dates. To avoid being randomly assigned, tell me a date by Tuesday, 5 pm. The assignments will be available at http://www.ai.mit.edu/gsl/signup.txt and posted to the mailing list. 2) If you do not wish to cook on a particular date, you can arrange with another person to switch dates. If you do not wish to cook at all, you will be removed from the GSL mailing list. I assume that those who eat at GSL regularly are on the mailing list. If you don't come to GSL but are on the list, remove yourself; if you do come and aren't on the list, add yourself. The list will be world-writable until Tuesday. The list is at /com/mailer/gsl. We have people signed up for next Friday, so no one will be randomly assigned for that date. \begin{sermonize} I do not have the time or energy to recruit reluctant people on a week-by-week basis. GSL happens only if people fulfill the basic GSL Contract: You Eat, You Cook. I won't have it fall victim to a prisoner's dilemma of everyone assuming that someone else will volunteer, by volunteering everyone myself. \end{sermonize} Mark GSL Czar
