Nokia and CSAIL Collaboration

The MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and Nokia have joined together in a unique collaboration that is a novel, open innovation approach to university cooperation. Nokia and MIT researchers jointly carry out high-impact research on mobile computing and communications technologies. In the Mobile Ecosystem 2012 vision, mobile devices become elements of an "ecosystem" of information, services, peripherals, sensors and other devices. The projects revolve around enhancing people's lives and productivity by enabling more intuitive interaction between individuals, machines and environments.

The current collaboration consists of several research projects, which range from low-level chip design (like ARMO) to harnessing the Semantic Web (like SWAPME). More information about each project is accessible from the projects page.

Nokia and CSAIL have collaborated in the past on Project Oxygen, a research effort on human-centered computing.

NRCC is physically located at Three Cambridge Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
