The StataWorld course is a 9-hole course, laid out as follows:
|
You only need one thing to play the StataWorld Disc Golf course, and we will provide it: an official StataWorld DGA Blowfly disc. Only these discs are allowed, because they're soft and won't damage people or stuff.
During play, you will record the number of strokes that you take to complete each hole on the supplied scorecard; your score (based on the algorithm below) will be totalled afterwards for you.
For each hole that you play, you get <par for that hole> points (no skipping holes, please; you can't play 1 and 2, skip 3-8, and play 9, for example).
In addition to participation points, you get additional points as follows for each hole that you play:
Score on hole | Number of points |
Quintuple bogey and worse | 0 |
Quadruple bogey | 1 |
Triple bogey | 2 |
Double bogey | 3 |
Bogey and worse | 4 |
Par | 5 |
Birdie | 6 |
Eagle | 7 |
Double eagle | 8 |
Triple eagle | 9 |
Quadruple eagle | 10 |
If you score better than a quadruple eagle on any hole, your team wins the CSAIL Olympics.
(defun compute-my-score (my-scores-on-each-hole) (loop for hole-par from 1 ;; hole numbers are the same as the pars for each hole for score in my-scores-on-each-hole summing (+ hole-par ;; participation points (max 0 (- (+ 5 hole-par) score))))) ;; skill points ;; Example: Skipped the last two holes because I just can't face the Great American Scream Machine (hole #8) ;; and whatever mayhem lies beyond it (compute-my-score '(2 2 4 5 5 14 8))
We will supply scorecards at the event, but here's one anyway.
