This message is going out to everyone who volunteered to help at GSB this
week.
As you know, the Stata community sponsors have requested they witness a
real-live GSB event. Many of these people have given millions of dollars to
the department. Some have even given millions of dollars to GSB. They've
requested that as many graduate students as possible be seen on the 9th
floor lounge "building community" and "engaging in free-form outside-the-box
thinking" and "drunken rambling" and even "drunken stupors." There will be
media present as well. They expect to see how we've adapted to our
"orangutan-style" socialization spaces. We won't disappoint.
Please report to your designated beverage acquisition representative. Those
of you with middle initials starting with A-J should report to Mike Oltmans,
those of you with middle initials starting with K-R should report to Mike
McGeachie, and those of you with middle initials starting with S-Z report to
Tracy Hammond. They will provide you with a GSB T-Shirt, and the name of
your designated beverage. Please check your list of locations of the three
nearest beverage stores (Central, Inman, and Marlboro St), and immediately
go there and buy a six pack of your assigned beverage. Then bring this to
the 9th floor lounge as soon as possible.
The sponsors will be wearing gray badges. Smaller donors will have smaller
badges. Bigger donors have bigger badges. Bill Gates is reported to be
unable to lift his own badge. It's important to remember that you must show
O(n log(n)) respect to the donors, where N is badge diameter.
And once again, thank you for volunteering. With everyone's help, I know
this event will be a spectacular success. We can look forward to even more
free money in the future.
