Summary for the impatient:
GSB this Friday will have lots of old school GSB'ers so if you only come
to one GSB all year, come this week, students bring your advisors,
advisors bring your students, and everybody bring your friends that have
left the lab or have been here a really long time.
Do not Panic! Got your towel ready? Good. Now, Still Don't Panic! It
is not yet Friday... However when it becomes Friday at 5:30, we will
have the first ever...
"Back in my day... GSB"
We've invited a bunch of folks that used to haunt these and the former
building's, halls, offices, and GSBs. Find out what it was like back in
the bad olde days of the AI Lab and LCS. Hear horror stories of AI
Winter. Hear the tales of the glory days of the AI Olympics and Fall
BBQs. Come make up some stories about why AI is succeeding/failing.
But most importantly, come! There are guaranteed to be some old faces
you haven't seen in a while, or maybe people you've heard of and never
actually met. If you see such a person tie them down and drag them to
GSB on Friday. If you are such a person, send me email, tie yourself
down and I'll come drag you to GSB on Friday (note: the order of these
instructions is important).
Bonus points and Nerd Pride Pocket Protectors awarded for(*):
* bringing alumni
* bringing faculty
* bringing anyone who has ever written a GSB message
* an early arriving new student
* wearing old AI/LCS shirts, hats, underwear, etc...
* anyone who's never been to GSB
* bringing pictures
* telling stories
* making stuff up
* showing up
(*) While supplies last (and I suspect they'll last)
We've got a fresh stock of supplies including some premium brews for the
first lucky couple of folks through the sliding doors.
