The World Wide Web was just beginning in 1993. There were some good
movies in 1993: Groundhog Day, The Fugitive, Jurassic Park ("It's a UNIX
system! I know this!"), Groundhog Day, Schindler's List, Philadelphia,
Groundhog Day. A gallon of milk was $2.50* and a dozen eggs were 90
cents. Gas was $1.10/gallon and foamy GSB beverages were $1.50 (and root
beer was $1.00).
Things have changed in the last 14 years. Now we have the Web 2.0. Tim
Berners-Lee is now Sir Tim. This year's movies include: Harry Potter,
The Simpsons, and Ratatouille. A gallon of milk is $3.74 (this one
always comes in handy if you decide to run for political office), a
dozen eggs are $1.50, Gas is an arm and a leg, and GSB beverages are
$2.00 (and root beer is $1.50).
Whoa, wait a second. That's right, inflation has sadly finally caught
up with us and our prices are going up. Our email archive is pretty
sparse before 1993, but as far as we can tell our prices have been the
same for at least the last 14 years. Hopefully they won't change again
for another 14.
We've restocked our beverage supply (we've got all those special
requests). So come join us at this week's...
