[csail-related] GSB Tonight: The Circle of Life

The Lion King moved me when I was younger. Here we have a story of a
kid, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, who has that silver spoon
ripped out. Intriguing. What I never understood, was why his Uncle
spoke with a British dialect. Maybe he was raised there? I'm not sure,
but I thought they should really all be speaking with an accent.
Something African. Weren't they in Africa?
Anyway, what brought me on the topic of The Lion King, was that I heard
"The Circle of Life" playing in my head as I passed the Koch institute
this morning. I noticed that what we researchers experience every day
is something of a circle itself, if for no other reason than the
construction of that building has us going in ever-changing maze-circles
every morning (well, I exaggerate, but please forgive me for this minor
transgression). As I walked by, I noticed that many of the people
working on the finishing touches of the building spoke as though they
had been born and raised in the Boston area. Which leads me to believe
the message that the universe is trying to tell us through the
construction of this building is rather like the message of The Lion
King: "People with funny dialects are all around us."
Lets talk about how funny they sound at this week's:
