Do you want to just get away from it all? Well, I did. I am now living in a small cabin in south-eastern Idaho. However, unlike the Unabomber, I chose to use my mathematical prowess and wilderness experience for good, and not for evil. Yes, I am the anti-Unabomber. Like the Unabomber, I go to my local library and keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology. However, I do not make bombs and send them to people that I think push progress too far. Instead, I write postcards and mail them to university researchers, airline executives, and people in the foresting industry. Not everybody gets a postcard - only those whose work really furthers the field. Here are some excerpts from postcards that I've sent recently: Dear Prof. Markof, I really enjoyed your recent article in the "Journal of Hyper- and Inter- Active Agents". Keep up the good work! Dear Lewis Jordan, I've flown your airline several times and found it completely safe, though a bit stingy with the peanuts. Don't let those regulators get you down. Dear Mr. Flynn, Just today, I used a paper product made from trees your company had cut down in Oregon. I found the product to be soft, even velvety to the touch. Kudos to you and your loggers. Well, I need not tell you - members of the AI lab - that there is more and more good research and good business going on every day. In fact, I am starting to get swamped. Won't you please help?
