ANNOUNCING THE THEME: "Time Machine". From w1k.com: "In this contest, photoshop is your time machine and you may use it to meld the past, present and future". Team subcaptains, contact me for pictures that MUST be embedded in your submission (details below).

I recommend that you spend the next 24 hours for brainstorming. Monday @ midnight, I'll send out the additional material.

What: This is a photoshop editing contest. The goal is to see who has the best picture editing skills and have fun on the way... Take this as an opportunity to learn more about your favorite image editing tool, be it photoshop or gimp. You never know when such skills may come in handy. We ensure that when the time comes, you leave grad school knowing at least one useful thing.

When: Competition theme announced Jan 23 @ midnight here..

How: You will have 2 days to prepare and submit your entry. All entries must be original and comply with the w1k.com rules. Entries will be submitted using the online submission page at w1k.com. Each entry must use part or all of a picture to be provided by the commissioner via email to the event sub-captains designated by each team.

Scoring: 1 point for each entry that yours outscores in w1k.com. Points are normalized such that scores from all teams add up to 100.

Q: How many entries per team?
A: Only one entry per team.

Q: Any points for participation?
A: Yes and no. No direct points, but if you have more people you have working on the project, you are likely to do a better job.
