[csail-related] GSB Tonight: Freedoms.

I've been thinking about freedom a bit. I can't help but wonder if freedom
is really a good thing [1]. What are the benefits of freedom? And what is
the difference between freedom and power? I have my ideas, but chances are
you're subscribed to csail-related, so you probably do too [2].
I've been thinking about prejudice and sexism. On the one hand, you can't
judge a book by its cover, but on the other hand, people do have some
control over their appearance [3]. If I see a guy walking down the street
in an officer of the law's uniform, I don't think it would be amiss for me
to assume he's a cop [4].
I've been thinking about conservative vs. liberal ideals. Being liberated
sounds great, but so does conserving your resources. It's odd that those
are "opposites" in America. It seems there would be a time and place for
both ideas. Certainly there are situations where they would need to get
along [5]. Yet here those parties are, disagreeing about everything. Even
scientific fact [6].
Let's talk about research [7] at this week's:

[1] It's a Dr. of *philosophy*.
[2] Hi, Richard!
[3] Proof by Michael Jackson.
[4] And if it is, may Thor's mighty hammer help us all.
[5] Conserve your ammo so that you can liberally apply it to your enemies.
[6] See last email ... I can't get over that.
[7] There's no way this is happening.
