Yes, it's true. There are more beverages this week than there are
Democratic presidential candidates. That's why it's time for GSB's
annual Beverage Caucus! The Annual Beverage Caucus is an important GSB
tradition. In keeping with this tradition, we will follow the National
Caucuses Caucus's conventions for Beverage Caucuses.
- Thus, when you arrive at GSB, no later than 5:30, present your name
and ID to the Beverage Caucus worker.
- At 5:45 we will elect a Caucus Leader. Said leader will be elected by
nomination, and seconding, then by general vote.
- The Caucus Leader will then direct each attendee to glom into groups
based on the beverage that person supports. Each group, amassed thusly,
will then represent one beverage. Groups will have until 6:00 to
prepare arguments and demonstrations.
- At 6:00, each group will take turns presenting arguments in favor of
their beverage to the Caucus.
- At 6:30, a Beverage Caucus Vote takes place. The Beverage Caucus Vote
is conducted by the Caucus Leader, who will speak the name of each
Beverage and then assess support for that beverage by Show of Bottles.
Bottles presented in the Show of Bottles must be emptied bottles of the
Beverage in question, and must have been full prior to 5:30, and further
must have been lawfully consumed in accordance with the Beverage
Consumption Directive of the National Caucuses Caucus.
- At 6:45, Rebeveraging takes place. Rebeveraging is a process by which
caucusers in camps for beverages receiving less than 15% the total vote
in the Show of Bottles, have the opportunity to sample other beverages,
and then re-affiliate themselves with the beverage group of their
choosing.
- At 7:00 there is a final round of arguments presented. Each beverage
group may make an additional pitch to the Caucus to woo support for
their beverage.
- By 7:15, the Caucus Leader will hold the Trial of Beverages. Each
beverage group must have chosen a Champion of the Bottles to participate
in the Trial of Beverages prior to 7:15. The Trial of Beverages is held
in a secret location and is subject to the National Caucuses Caucus's
conventions on Trials Not Involving Death or Dismemberment, and as such,
cannot be further discussed.
