Graduation Promotional Offers

This week in an effort to encourage the labs older students to finish 
their degrees and to encourage the younger students to keep it moving 
along the department has started offering the following promotions:

Between now and September 7 complete an Area Exam (if anyone still knows 
what one is) and a Thesis Proposal and receive a free conference 
publication.  For exceptional work on either or both of the above, a 
Journal publication may be awarded as well.

or

Between now and September 17 complete an RQE and a TQE and get a free 
Thesis proposal(*)

or

Between now and September 23 complete a PhD and receive an extra Masters 
degree (Science or Engineering as you prefer) for half price.

And Last But Not Least:

Complete a PhD between now and the end of time (that should give even me 
enough time) and get a free beverage of your choice from the lovely 
folks at GSB.

(*) student still responsible for choosing a committee and arranging 
meeting times with said committee.  Failure to get all committee members 
in one room within 30 days will nullify this offer.
