In a loosely affiliated, unofficial, under the table partnership with
"Recognizing Art" we bring you this weeks GSB message:
Q: What do you call a guy with no arms and no legs hanging on the wall
at GSB?
A: Art
But not all questions have such simple straight forward answers. For
example:
What is in a name?
What is art?
What is recognition?
What is "is"?
What is "Recognizing Art?"
These are all questions that you may have asked yourself while gazing at
your belly button. We here at GSB finally have the answers. After
extensive research, experimentation, stretching exercises, and soul
searching we are ready to present to you: The Truth!
The truth will shock you. The truth will make you question everything
you thought you knew. The truth is inconvenient. The truth is we
didn't really do any research, experimentation, stretching exercises, or
soul searching (I did scratch some lint out of my belly button though).
The truth is we didn't even do any web searching. The truth is we
just got the same email that you did AND read it. The truth is, well,
actually, the truth is on this web page:
https://projects.csail.mit.edu/student-committee/survey/index.cgi?survey=RecognizingArt
(sorry, if you aren't in csail you probably can't see the page, but you
can still come see the truth live at GSB).
All the same, the truth will shock you and make you question everything,
even why you chose General Gau's chicken over the peanut tofu for lunch.
If you still don't understand and especially if you don't understand
that you don't understand, come to tonights Art show (yes there really
is an art show). It'll be just like a big gallery art opening except we
won't have wine, cheese, cigarettes in long holders, celebrities, or
fancy little black dresses. We'll just have some pretty darn cool art
from your fellow CSAILers curated by Wanmei and catered with the usual
fare that can be found each week at...
