Re: [csail-related] gsb: tonight at 5:30pm in 9G

It was a JOKE! Why are you people still discussing this?

Richard, is it safe for me to assume that you've been receiving GSB
announcements every friday, give or take, for, well, longer than most
of us? And while the quality of humor waxes and wanes from week to
week, one hopes that by this point you've noticed that they are meant
to be humorous. In other words, based on the thousands or so GSB
announcements you've received, you shouldn't need to open, or run
strings on the attachment to know that it was meant as a joke.

GSB is for relaxation, and the GSB announcements are to make us laugh.
A philosophical debate robs the experience of it's fun, relaxing
atmosphere. I appreciate and respect your need to have the debate in
public, I just mind that you've co-opted this particular forum for
your own philosophical agenda.

If I'm not mistaken, hacking is prohibited at GSB because it violates
the spirit of the event. I'd like to propose prohibiting ideological
polemics aimed at the author or content of GSB announcements for the
same reason.

Microsoft has designed the next version of Word format so that it can
use patents to forbid free software from supporting that format. (See
