A toast to Rod

As Rod is enjoying his last few days as director of CSAIL, it was announced that iRobot and TASER (http://www.irobot.com/sp.cfm?pageid=86&id=344) are teaming up to make a new robot that can "incapacitate and control dangerous suspects." Supposedly this new tool can be used in "dangerous scenarios" and will be demonstrated at the annual TASER Tactical Conference in Chicago.

There aren't any plans (supposedly) for robots to have lethal force, but will we see Roombas roaming around zapping obstacles in their way? Will the robots take their revenge on the people who toy with them and purposely block their path to see if they can navigate around them? Will people regret giving Rod a hard time over the last 10 years?

I'm sure the answers to these and other questions will be forthcoming as Rod settles into "the nose" and plans to "burn [his] fingers with a soldering iron."

Come celebrate Rod at this week's...
