Sky High

An article in the Globe this week caught my eye --

"Dinner in the Sky" Quick Facts:
- 5 ton table with seats for 22
- leather chairs with four-point seat belts
- hoisted 50 meters up into the air
- center area for up to 7 servers and chefs
- options include:
  - lights
  - infrared heating
  - sound
  - tv screens
- minimum passenger height requirement of 1.5 meters
- short one minute descent for bathroom access
- a long way down if you drop a fork
- prices start at only $35,000!*

* Food not included.

I was thinking about this and it epitomizes the growing income gap. On
one hand you have a $35,000 table in the sky (no food) and on the other
hand you have dramatic increases in the use of food stamps and college
students who have to get food from the local food pantry (seriously). On
one hand you have people driving around Hummers or sports cars with
impunity and on the other hand you have people ditching their car for
public transportation because they can't afford gas.

Well you can still get a nice frothy beverage at GSB for $2*.

* Beverage included.
