Be careful where you stick your tongue...

It's really cold out. So cold you could freeze your tongue to a metal
pole. Turns out a boy in Indiana tried this out for himself. It does
actually work. "Work" makes it sound like a good idea, which it
obviously is not.

Mythbusters actually tested this scientifically a while back, and
confirmed that you can actually stick to a flag pole using your tongue.
Guess that kid didn't see that episode.

Sadly in that same episode they determined that you can't start an
avalanche with the sound of a whip cracking, or by firing small guns at
the mountain. Funny how that always works in the movies.

And lastly, they tried driving backwards on ice because of the myth that
driving backwards is safer because of improved traction. This seems like
a ridiculous idea to me. Who comes up with these crazy ideas anyway?
They proved that driving around backwards is harder, but it did seem
like it was the most fun to test.

So don't go around licking poles or driving around backwards. Or go try
to start an avalanche with you hand gun. But do come share your cold
weather stories and stay warm at this week's...
