Don't you hate it when your base assumptions are different than the
person you're talking with? Case in point: I just had a conversation
with someone that asked if I was going to be doing any Opening Ceremony
preparations. This caused gave me pause .... the Olympics are during
IAP every year, right? Did I drop the ball? Has the year come and gone
already? Who are the commissioners this year? Why was I not informed
of the time switch?
After changing my underwear, it occurred to me: this guy/girl is crazy.
S/He thinks it's last month, the poor bastard. I guess that's what
happens when you have to deal with his/her advisor/grad students. (WHO
DID I TALK WITH??? SO AMBIGUOUS!!!)
Of course what I was was forgetting is that there is actually another
little-known event called "The Olympics" that happen only once every 2
years. And it occurs in two flavors; as if they couldn't decide which
flavor was best. I guess not everyone can organize an event as grand as
the Olympics as well as Sachi and Ying. Or even half as grand.
It would be nice if someone could tell me what's up with the Winter
Games this year at this week's
