This is the first GSB message of the term. The primary purpose of this
message is to encourage and persuade people to come to GSB tonight, at
5:30pm in the G9 lounge. If you're a new student, your first beverage is
free! So grab a friend (or an enemy even) and head to the 9th floor.
Everyone is welcome - students, faculty, friends, etc.
Q: What's GSB stand for?
A: Girl Scout Benefit.
Q: That's sort of a strange name. Where'd it come from?
A: A long time ago there were actually some Girl Scouts who were
collecting empty bottles. GSB helped them out by emptying bottles.
Q: How long has this been going on?
A: More than 20 years.
Q: So you mentioned free. That means it must usually cost something!
A: Yes, it usually costs $2 ($2.50 if you ask) and $1.50 for root beer
or ginger beer.
Q: Are the messages always this boring?
A: No. Sometimes the messages are good. If you're really lucky, the
message is funny. You can check out the archives here:

and older archives here:

A: All future messages will be sent to these mailing lists:

Q: How often does GSB happen?
A: Almost every Friday at 5:30pm.
Q: Do people actually read all the way to the end of these messages?
A: I don't know. You tell me.
Q: Where is it again?
